Organization

Our mission: To improve community health in Malawi by sharing medical knowledge and training local professionals.

CooperaMalawi is an initiative driven by healthcare professionals that was born with the aim of improving community health in Malawi through collaboration, training, and work on the ground.

The project brings together a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other professionals who share the same purpose: to put their knowledge at the service of communities with fewer resources.

Beyond the immediate action, we work to build sustainable health processes, strengthening local capacities and generating an impact that lasts over time.

Health professionals committed to a cooperation project with real impact

How we work

Our way of understanding cooperation is based on working together with local professionals.

It’s not about arriving punctually, but about listening, adapting to the context, and building useful and applicable solutions on the ground and with continuity. Our action combines:

  • Healthcare assistance in a community context
  • Cooperation and clinical training to strengthen local capacities
  • Education and health prevention

We bet on respectful cooperation, based on the exchange of knowledge and trust with the people and teams of the territory.

Our history

The project stems from a direct experience on the ground in Malawi, which highlighted both the shortcomings of the healthcare system and the potential of working together with local communities.

This first contact allowed us to understand that effective cooperation is not based on large, one-off interventions, but on small, well-structured actions that are adapted and sustained over time.

Based on this experience, CooperaMalawi was launched with the intention of continuing this work model.

Commitment and transparency

How are the donations' money allocated?

The contributions are directly transformed into actions on the ground:

  • medical material and medication
  • training of local professionals
  • actions of prevention and health education
  • patient monitoring

Our goal is to ensure that each resource has a real and direct impact on the community.

Can I contribute if I am not a healthcare professional?

Yes. CooperaMalawi also needs people to collaborate in areas such as communication, dissemination, organizing activities, or logistical support.

Everyone can contribute their own little bit.

What requirements are there to participate in a mission?

The missions are primarily aimed at healthcare professionals or people with specific training.

It is necessary to have time to travel, the ability to adapt, and a sensitivity to work in environments with limited resources.

We prepare and accompany all participants before the trip.

What impact do the missions have?

The missions allow us to act on real needs in the territory:

  • Early detection of pathologies
  • training of local staff
  • follow-up of complex cases
  • prevention actions

Beyond the immediate action, we seek to generate continuity and sustainable improvements in the local healthcare system.

How can I follow the progress of the projects?

We share the evolution of the project through the website, the blog and social media.

During our missions, we publish periodic content to show, in a transparent manner, the activities carried out and the impact generated.

Does making a donation have tax benefits?

In Spain, donations to NGOs can receive tax deductions according to the current regulations.

Currently, CooperaMalawi is in the process of obtaining the legal framework that will allow these benefits to be implemented. In the meantime, donation receipts can be issued.

Does my donation really make a difference?

Yes. Each contribution is directly transformed into concrete actions on the ground: medical supplies, basic treatments, training for local professionals, and patient follow-up.

Working in a context with limited resources, small actions can generate very significant changes in the health and quality of life of many people.

How exactly are the money used?

The resources are allocated directly to real needs identified during the missions:

  • medicines and medical equipment
  • training of the local team
  • prevention actions
  • patient monitoring

Our commitment is that each contribution has a direct, useful and measurable impact on the ground.

How do I ensure that my help reaches them?

We work with proximity and transparency criteria.

The team is directly involved in the missions and maintains continuous contact with the local professionals. In addition, we share information, data, and content during and after each expedition so that you can see how the project is evolving.

Where do our funds come from?

CooperaMalawi is funded through private donations, contributions from partners, and collaborations with public institutions and organizations that share our commitment to community health.

We will also work to access grants and subsidies that will allow us to expand the scope of our projects.

Why is continuity important in this project?

Health is not resolved by a single intervention.

Many of the situations we encounter require follow-up, training, and support over time. For this reason, each donation not only allows us to act in a specific moment, but also to continue processes of health that truly transform lives.
